- This herb is often used with Fr. Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Yi Zhi Ren.
- It is considered a medicinal of the Liver, Kidneys and Ming Men.
- Use alone as a powder for frequent urination during pregnancy.
- Use alone as a powder served with rice soup, for dysuria.
- Both Sang Piao Xiao and Fr. Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Yi Zhi Ren Warm and tonify the lower base, astringe the urine and Jing and are used to treat Deficiency Cold in the Lower Jiao leading to enuresis, urinary frequency and spermatorrhea. They are often combined to strengthen Kidney Yang and astringe Jing. Sang Piao Xiao is primarily used for lower Jiao Deficiency Cold, while Yi Zhi Ren warms the Spleen, astringes saliva and halts diarrhea.
- Both Sang Piao Xiao and Endoconcha Sepiae Hai Piao Xiao enter the Kidney channel to retain Jing. Hai Piao Xiao is salty, astringent, slightly warm and stops bleeding, dries Dampness, stops vaginal discharge, controls gastric acidity and stops pain, but does not tonify. Sang Piao Xiao is sweet, salty, neutral, tonifies the Kidneys and more strongly astringes Jing and urine.
- Both Sang Piao Xiao and Fr. Rubi Fu Pen Zi tonify, restrain and constrain and treat Kidney Deficiency leading to enuresis, urinary frequency spermatorrhea and impotence. Fu Pen Zi is sweet and neutral and more strongly enriches the true Yin. Sang Piao Xiao is salty and more strongly reinforces the Yang.
- Salt-prepared Mantis Egg-Case Yan Chao Sang Piao Xiao tastes better and guides the actions of the herb into the Kidney channel to enhance its ability to astringe Jing, urine and tonify the Kidneys.
