Tonifies the Kidneys, benefits Jing and marrow, strengthens Yang, nourishes Liver Yin and Blood and strengthens the sinews and bones

Kidney Yang Deficiency with impotence, infertility urinary frequency and spermatorrhea

Weak sinews due to Deficient Jing and Blood

Atrophy disorder (Wei Syndrome) from damaged Liver and Kidney Yin

Moistens the Intestines, unblocks the bowels and nourishes the Blood

Constipation due to Deficient Qi and Blood

CONTRAINDICATIONS, INCOMPATIBILITIES AND HERB/DRUG INTERACTIONS

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Contraindicated for those with diarrhea from Spleen and Stomach Deficiency.
Contraindicated for those with Deficient Kidney Yin with Heat signs or who are easily aroused sexually.
Contraindicated for those with constipation from Excess Heat.

Impotence or infertility due to insufficiency of the Liver and Kidneys along with exhausted Jing and Blood. Postpartum constipation due to Jin Ye Deficiency.	Weakness, paralysis, motor impairment and atrophy of the musculature associated with atrophy syndromes from severely Deficient Liver and Kidneys.	Premature ejaculation, urinary incontinence, and urinary frequency from Deficient Kidney Yang.

Constipation due to Yang Deficiency and insufficient Blood in the elderly or debilitated. (use a large dose)	Nocturnal emission and impotence.	Soreness and weakness of the back and knees.

NOTES

This is an inexpensive substitute for Hb. Cistanches Rou Cong Rong in Qi and Blood Deficient constipation, its moistening properties are less.
It is not for Excess conditions.
In the past, it was considered a medicinal for life extension, but today it is used more for muscular innervation to treat motor impairment and paralysis especially in later life.
Both Suo Yang and Hb. Cistanches Rou Cong Rong tonify Yang, moisten the Intestines, unblock the bowels and are sweet, salty and warm. Rou Cong Rong is better able to augment Jing and Blood and is better to treat infertility but is less warming of the Kidney Yang. Suo Yang moistens Dryness and nourishes the sinews and treats impotence and is used for impotence and atrophy of the sinews and bones. Suo yang can substitute for Rou Cong Rong in cases of clumped constipation in deficient patients.
Suo Yang, Hb. Cistanches Rou Cong Rong and Testes et Penis Callorhini Hai Gou Shen are all salty, augment the Jing, and tonify Kidney to treat male impotence. The three are similar in effect. Suo Yang and Rou Cong Rong enter the Large Intestine channel and are both used for constipation. Hai Gou Shou does not. It enters the Liver and Kidney channels and strengthens the low back and knees which have been weakened by Kidney Deficiency. Suo Yang is stronger in its ability to strengthen the sinews. Hai Gou Shen is more warming than Rou Cong Rong but less nourishing of the Jing and Blood.
Wine-fried Cynomorium Jiu Chao Suo Yang is stronger at tonifying Kidney Yang.
