- Since most sources do not have an anti-cancer section, this herb is categorized in other sections. Bensky lists it as an herb for external application, OHAI lists it in the Insecticide, Bactericide, and Fungicide category, and one source lists it as a Blood Invigorating herb.
- This herb irritates the skin causing redness and blisters which then burst and heal, literally wearing away the sore. It has a strong effect with a slow onset. There is little pain with rapid healing and often no scar. If applied to an open wound, it can cause irreversible damage.
- It has an anti fungal effect.
- It stimulates bone marrow to increase WBCs.
- It has an anti-tumor effect.
- This herb has an intensely rapid action that reaches externally to mobilize the joints of the limbs and internally to the organs to unbind clogging and Stasis, unblock the Heart Orifices and eliminate Heat Stasis. It is used in emergency situations to treat closed patterns.
- It governs sores and abscesses, the swelling of deep-seated toxic sores, scrofula, all types of noxious sores and stubborn dermatoses.
- When pathogenic Qi meets and enters the muscles and flesh, if constrained and not released, it then causes swollen deep-seated noxious sores which must be released through the sweat.
- This herb's action on the heart muscle is like digitalis, but more rapid and short-lived and without any cumulative effect.
- It is said that to cure infantile malnutrition, diminish abdominal masses and treat pyogenic sores, burn to ash, mix with dietetic oil and apply topically
- The skin removes severe poison when applied to the lesion.
- For carbuncles and swellings, grind 3g of Chan Su with 3g Moschus She Xiang, blend with human milk and keep in a container for drying. Mix with a little liquid, apply topically and cover.
- It is said that all dermatopathy can be cured with toad ash blended with vinegar and applied topically three to five times per day.
