- Both She Xiang and Borneolum Bing Pian are acrid, mobile, piercing, open the Orifices and awaken the Spirit. They are often combined to treat loss of consciousness, delirium associated with febrile diseases, fainting due to Summerheat, Wind-Stroke and swollen sores due to Heat toxin. She Xiang more powerfully opens the Orifices, awakens the Spirit invigorates the Blood,unblocks the collaterals and reduces and disperses Qi and Blood Stagnation. It treats hematomas, traumatic injury and abdominal masses or amenorrhea due to Blood Stasis. Bing Pian dissipates Fire constraint, to reduce swelling and stop pain. It treats sore red eyes, mouth ulcers and toothache.
- Both She Xiang and Styrax Su He Xiang are acrid, warm, aromatic, open the Orifices and awaken the Spirit. She Xiang is stronger at opening the Orifices, awakening the Spirit and unblocking the channels and collaterals to treat Qi and Blood Stagnation with swelling and pain. Su He Xiang more strongly clears away filth and expels Phlegm to treat turbid, filthy Qi and Wind-Stroke with overabundant Phlegm causing loss of consciousness.
