- It is used as a gargle for sore throat, tonsillitis, mouth and tongue sores and stuck bone in the throat.
- It is taken internally for Hot Phlegm.
- It treats all disorders involving Qi closure with difficult breathing and Phlegm-Fire clumping.
- It can be used as an eye wash for eye redness, swelling and pain.
- For skin sores and ulcerations, use unprocessed Peng Sha to clear Heat and eliminate toxins and calcined Duan Peng Sha to drain pus and enhance recovery.
- Both Peng Sha and Calamina Lu Gan Shi nourish, prevent putrefication and resolve toxicity and both treat the eyes. Peng Sha is primarily used to clear Heat and dissolve Phlegm to prevent putrefication. It focuses on the mucous membranes. Lu Gan Shi dries Dampness and generates flesh and is best for long-term drainage off pus from open sores or wounds that do not heal.
- Calcined Borax Duan Peng Sha has restraining, inhibiting and drying properties and is good for weeping lesions.
- Borax is toxic and its use both for external and internal application is forbidden in many countries. A lethal dose for adults is 12-30g.
