- Overdose will cause numbness of the lips, tongue, and extremities, vomiting, facial pallor, irritability, decrease in the pulse rate and blood pressure, difficulty in breathing, and coma.
- Some sources classify this as an "Expel Wind and Dampness" herb.
- This herb also enters and tonifies the Ming Men.
- The tincture of this herb is used as a surgical anesthetic.
- This herb expels Cold, eliminates firm but painless lumps in the epigastrium, warms and nourishes the Zang Fu, treats all types of Wind, breaks up stagnant Qi and treat abdominal pain due to externally-contracted Wind-Cold.
- This herb inhibits the growth of live and proliferative Stomach cancer cells.
- It has been shown to be effective in treating Stomach, esophageal, Liver, Colon and rectal cancers.
- One major source says that this herb has six functions: 1: remove Cold; 2: relieve epigastric mass; 3: warm and nourish the viscera; 4: heal diverse Wind conditions; 5: alleviate Qi Stagnation; 6: stop abdominal pain due to Cold.
- To treat polyps, soak 5 pieces in wine for three days and use the liquid to wash the polyp three to four times a day.
- Zhi Chuan Wu, Rx. Aconiti Kusnezoffi Preparata Zhi Cao Wu and Sm. Strychni Ma Qian Zi are often the foundation for many plasters used to treat musculoskeletal pain due to either rheumatism or trauma.
- Processed Sichuan Aconite Main Root Zhi Chuan Wu is the form this herb should be used as internally.
- Dry-fried Sichuan Aconite Main Root Chao Chuan Wu is less toxic, but rarely used today.
- Unprepared Sichuan Aconite Main Root Sheng Chuan Wu Should only be applied externally.
