- This herb is used to dispel pathogenic factors in the chest and abdomen.
- It drastically reduces gastric obstruction due to pathogenic Heat.
- It is used for dispersing any Excess type of stroke, constipation, dysuria and Qi Stagnation.
- It is commonly used topically as a powder to regenerate flesh.
- It is easily absorbed through the skin and mucosal membranes.
- It can be used alone for swelling and redness and pain of the eyes. It is often found in eye drops for relief of swelling.
- It inhibits the growth of cancer cells.
- The best quality is called Long Nao Xiang “Fragrant Dragon Brain”, and is very fragrant and similar in properties to Moschus She Xiang but weaker.
- Externally, it clears Heat, stops pain, generates flesh.
- It is commonly used in patent formulas for angina, oral ulceration, insomnia, nervousness and children’s diseases.
- Because of its volatile nature, it is not usually decocted.
- It reaches everywhere in the body and opens all of the Orifices.
- Some sources say that this herb is Warm or Hot.
- Both Bing Pian and Moschus She Xiang are acrid, mobile, piercing, open the Orifices and awaken the Spirit. They are often combined to treat loss of consciousness, delirium associated with febrile diseases, fainting due to Summerheat, Wind-Stroke and swollen sores due to Heat toxin. She Xiang more powerfully opens the Orifices, awakens the Spirit invigorates the Blood,unblocks the collaterals and reduces and disperses Qi and Blood Stagnation. It treats hematomas, traumatic injury and abdominal masses or amenorrhea due to Blood Stasis. Bing Pian Dissipates Fire constraint, to reduce swelling and stop pain. It treats sore red eyes, mouth ulcers and toothache.
