Concha Ostreae Mu Li 60g Calms the Liver, benefits the Yin, anchors Floating Yang, softens hardness and dissipates nodules.
Rx. Scutellariae Barbatae Ban Zhi Lian 30g Clears Heat, resolves Fire toxins, invigorates the Blood, reduces swellings and treats various types of cancer.
Hb. Solani Lyrati Shu Yang Quan 15g Dispels Heat and removes toxins and treats cancer.
Flos Magnoliae Xin Yi Hua 12g Expels Wind-Cold and unblocks the nasal passages.
With Cang Er Zi, strongly unblocks nasal obstruction and sinus headache due to Wind-Cold or Wind-Heat for sinusitis and rhinitis with loss of sense of smell.
Fr. Xanthii Cang Er Zi 12g Disperses Wind and Dampness and opens the nasal passages.
With Xin Yi Hua, for blocked nose due to Wind-Cold and chronic sinusitis.
Fr. Forsythiae Lian Qiao 12g Clears Heat, especially in the Upper Jiao, relieves toxicity, reduces abscesses, dissipates clumps and clears Blood Heat.

With Xia Ku Cao, for subcutaneous Phlegm nodules, swollen, sore throat, red, swollen eyes and deep-rooted sores.
Sp. Prunellae Xia Ku Cao 12g Clears Liver Fire, clears Hot Phlegm and dissipates nodules.
Rx. Angelicae Sinensis Dang Gui 3g Tonifies, invigorates and harmonizes the Blood, disperses Cold, r educes swelling, expels pus, generates flesh and alleviates pain.
Rx. Chuanxiong Chuan Xiong 3g Invigorates the Blood, promotes the movement of Qi, expels Wind and alleviates pain.

CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS

  • Epistaxis, usually a small amount of Blood (initial stage)
  • Nasal obstruction (early stage)
  • Tumor in the nose
  • Tinnitus
  • Deafness
  • Masses of the neck
  • Vernet's syndrome
  • Platoplegia
  • Asymmetry of the palate
  • Disappearance of the mouth opening
  • Migraines
  • Dysphagia
  • Choking sensation while drinking
  • Hoarseness
  • Exophthalmos
  • Blindness
  • Usually asymptomatic at the early stage
  • The tumor may appear as a cauliflower-like nodule or ulceration on the nasopharynx or as membrane erosion of abnormal color
  • If the tumor infiltrates to the submucosal layer, the surface of the membrane will be smooth and the nasopharynx will be depressed
  • Cranial nerve involvement is reflected by:
    Paralysis of the eyeball
    Facial hypothesia or hypoalgesia
    Difficulty opening the mouth
    Inclination of the tongue when it protrudes
    Aphasia
    Paralysis of the soft palate
    Disappearance of the gullet response
