POINT: UB-36 (URINARY BLADDER-36)

LOCATION:

  • Just below the buttock, on the line directly superior to UB-40 Weizhong, in the center of the transverse gluteal crease, in a depression between the hamstring muscles.
  • On the posterior aspect of the thigh, at the midpoint of the transverse crease below the buttock.
  • On the posterior side of the thigh, at the midpoint of the inferior gluteal crease.
  • Located at the midpoint of the transverse gluteal fold.

NEEDLING:

  • Perpendicular insertion 1 to 2 cun.
  • Straight insertion, 2 to 3 cun, causing local distention and soreness or an electric numb sensation extending down the leg.
  • Puncture perpendicularly 1 to 1.5 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.
