POINT: ST-8 (STOMACH-8)

- On the lateral side of the head, 0.5 cun above the anterior hairline at the corner of the forehead and 4.5 cun lateral to the midline of the head.
- At the angle of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to the median line of the head at the hairline.
- At the angle of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to the median line of the head at the coronal suture.
- At the corner of the forehead, 4.5 cun lateral to DU-24 Shenting and 0.5 cun within the hairline.
Note: there ar three ways to locate this point: 1. find the meeting point of a horizontal line drawn 0.5 cun within the anterior hairline , and a vertical line drawn 0.5 cun posterior to the hairline of the temple; 2. locate GB-15 Toulinqi which lies directly above the pupil when the patient is looking directly forward, and DU-24 Shenting which lies on the midline, 0.5 cun posterior to the anterior hairline. This point lies on the continuation of a line drawn between these two points and twice its distance; 3. 0.5 cun superior to the upper line of the origin of the temporalis muscle, 0.5 cun posterior to a vertical line drawn directly above M-HN-9 Taiyang.
- Puncture subcutaneously 0.5 to 1 cun.
- Transverse insertion front to back, 0.8 to 1.5 cun. Sensation: pain and distention extending outward from the point of insertion.
- Transverse insertion 0.5 to 1 cun.
