- In northeastern China the root of Aconiti Coreani Guan Bai Fu is used as this herb. It is very toxic and should not be confused with this herb.
- The literal translation of the name of this herb is “white appendage”. There are two different appendages. Rx. Lateralis Aconiti Carmichaeli Preparata Zhi Fu Zi or Hei Fu Zi means “black appendage” which is acrid, extremely hot and expels Damp-Cold from the Lower Jiao to warm the Ming Men and restore Devastated Yang. Prepared Rz. Typhonii Zhi Bai Fu Zi is acrid, warm and expels Wind-Damp-Cold from the Upper Jiao.

Zhi Tian Nan Xing expels Wind-Phlegm and stops spasms and is especially indicated for Wind-Stroke with profuse Phlegm welling upward, epilepsy and other seizure disorders.
