- Toxic reactions may be alleviated by taking a decoction of Rz. et Rx. Rhei Da Huang, Rz. Coptidis Huang Lian, and Rx. Scutellariae Huang Qin.
- This is the main herb for cold Kidneys.
- It is regarded as an aphrodisiac.
- It can be taken as a single herb for urinary incontinence and frequent urination.
- It governs Cold Qi in the epigastrium and abdomen with inability to eat, Wind-Cold causing cramps and spasms in the lower back and knees, Damp-consumption in men and incontinence in the elderly.
- It reinforces sexual organ and assists sexual function in males.
- It is said to tonify the San Jiao.
- Xian Mao, Hb. Epimedii Yin Yang Huo, and Rx. Morindae Ba Ji Tian all reinforce the Kidney Yang, strengthen the sinews and bones and expel Wind-Dampness. Xian Mao is the hottest and most acrid and strongly expels Cold-Dampness but its slight toxicity makes it appropriate only for short term use. Ba Ji Tian is acrid, sweet and only slightly warming with a soft, moistening quality that tonifies Yang without being overly dry or cloying. It also augment Jing. Yin Yang Huo is warmer and more markedly strengthens Ming Men Fire, while strongly dispersing Wind-Dampness and unblocking Bi.
- Wine-fried Curculigo Jiu Chao Xian Mao is less harsh with an enhanced ability to tonify the Kidney Yang and strengthen sinews and bones.
