- This herb used when a person’s health is deteriorating rapidly.
- It helps conserve Jing and restore strength to the lower body.
- It is from a different species than Rx. Astragali Huang Qi.
- It Astringes Jing and urine and benefits Jing and marrow.
- Other than treating the eyes, Sha Yuan Zi and Fr. Tribuli Bai Ji Li are completely different in appearance and actions. Bai Ji Li dredges the Liver and expels Wind to brighten the eyes with no tonifying effect. Sha Yuan Zi tonifies the Liver and Kidneys to brighten the eyes. They are often used together to treat eye diseases.
- Sha Yuan Zi Fr. Lycii Gou Qi Zi, and Sm. Cuscutae Tu Si Zi all tonify the Kidney Yin and Yang and are often used together. Gou Qi Zi better nourishes Kidney and Lung Yin, slightly tonifies Kidney Yang and tonifies Liver Blood to improve vision. Tu Si Zi and Sha Yuan Zi both tend toward the Yang and astringe Jing.
- Dry-fried Complanate Astragalus Seed Chao Sha Yuan Zi is better able to tonify the Kidneys and astringe Jing to treat urinary frequency, vaginal discharge, spermatorrhea and premature ejaculation due to Kidney Yang Deficiency.
- Salt-prepared Complanate Astragalus Seed Yan Sha Yuan Zi goes directly to the Kidney channel and strongly tonifies the liver and Kidneys to treat headache, dizziness, tinnitus, deafness and aching weakness of the lower back and knees. Do not use if these symptoms are the result of Kidney Yin Deficiency with Empty Heat .
