- Both Fr. Forsythiae Lian Qiao and Flos Lonicerae Jin Yin Hua are cooling and relieve toxicity and both guide Heat to the surface while cooling Internally. Lian Qiao cools Heart Fire, disperses stagnant Qi at the Blood level, treats Lin syndrome and treats shigella and staphylococcus while Jin Yin Hua disperses surface Heat, is sweet and Cold so does less harm to the Stomach and treats salmonella and streptococcus.
- This is one of the most important herbs for purging Heart Fire.
- It is used in most formulas for treating inflammation.
- Its action is similar to Jin Yin Hua and they are usually prescribed together.
- This plant has a reputation for curing cancer.
- Excels at treating acute or long-term skin conditions.
- It is usually used wit Rx. Glycyrrhizae Gan Cao.
- Treats microbial toxicosis.
- Treats externally contracted Wind-Heat or Warm pathogen entering the Pericardium with irritability, fever, delirium or rashes due to Blood Heat.
- It also promotes urination and and leads Heart Fire out through the urine.
- It is said to treat tuberculosis and herpes simplex and hepatitis.
- It treats gangrene of the extremities.
- Eliminates Phlegm.
- Good for any case of Lung Heat or Heart Fire obstructing the fluids.
- It also treats morphine toxicity.
- Green Forsythia Qing Lian Qiao or Forsythia with Seeds Dai Xin Lian Qiao are best for cooling and resolving toxicity.
- Yellow Forsythia Huang Lian Qiao or Clean Forsythia Jing Lian Qiao is best for reducing boils and dispersing clumps.
- Forsythia Seeds Lian Qiao Xin are used when Heat enters the Pericardium leading to impaired conscious and delirious speech.
