POINT: UB-59 (URINARY BLADDER-59)  

NAME: FUYANG

LOCATION:

  • 3 cun directly above UB-60 Kunlun, at the lateral aspect of the gastrocnemius muscle.
    Note: this point is located in the depression between the Achilles tendon and the peroneal tendons.

NEEDLING:

  • Straight insertion 1 to 2 cun.
  • Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1 cun.
  • Moxibustion is applicable.
  • Perpendicular or oblique insertion directed proximally or distally, 1 to 1.5 cun.

COMMAND FUNCTIONS:

  • Xi-Cleft point of the Yang Qiao channel

  • Removes obstruction from the channel
  • Invigorates the Yang Qiao, channel
  • Strengthens the back
  • Benefits the lumbar regions and legs
  • Activates the channel

  • Headache

  • Inflammation of the ankle joint

  • Lumbar pain with inability to stand for long
  • Inability to stand after sitting

  • Wind Bi with numbness
  • Atrophy disorder of the lower limb
  • Inability to raise the four limbs
  • Heaviness and soreness of the leg and knee
  • Ulceration of the leg
  • Chills and fever
  • Pain of the brow
  • Sudden turmoil disorder with cramps
  • Heavy sensation at the head
  • Redness and swelling of the External malleolus

  • Hip, thigh and lower back pain with inability to stand

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

NOTES:

  • This is a frequently used point for lower back pain.
  • It strengthens the muscles and makes movement easier.
  • It is effective only for unilateral backache.
  • It is very useful for elimination of toxins from the body-mind.
