NAME: SHIMEN

English:	Stone Gate
Also Known As:	Stone Door Jueyun Infertility

LOCATION:

2 Cun inferior to the umbilicus.
On the midline of the lower abdomen, 2 cun inferior to the umbilicus and 3 cun superior to the pubic symphysis.

NEEDLING:

Straight insertion 1 to 1.5 Cun.
Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1 Cun.
Moxibustion is applicable.
Perpendicular insertion, 0.8 to 1.5 cun.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Classical texts prohibit needling in women.
Other sources say that it is forbidden to needle or use moxibustion during pregnancy.

NOTES:

It is said that this point inhibits women' ability to conceive.
Some say it can be used to control fertility in women.
Some say that needling this point can make a woman infertile for life.
It is principally indicated for Excess conditions.
This is a main center of energy.
