- It both decreases the amount of pus formed and expels pus from open sores to promote healing.
- It is applied as an oil to the temples to calm the Spirit and treat fear and fright.
- Both Qian Dan and Calomelas Qing Fen are toxic and used externally to treat toxic sores. Qing Fen expels toxins, generates flesh, kills parasites and stops itching. it is used externally for scabies, tinea and syphilitic chancres. Qian Dan has a stronger action in eliminating toxicity and generating flesh. It is used for toxic abscesses and non-healing ulcers.
