NAME: YISHU

English: Pancreas Hollow
Also Known As: Stomach Controller Lower Shu
Weiguanxiashu

LOCATION:

  • 1.5 cun lateral to the spinous process of the eighth thoracic vertebra.
    Note: locate at the visible highest point of the paraspinal muscles.

NEEDLING:

  • Slanted insertion toward the spine 0.5 to 1 cun.
  • Oblique insertion towards the spine, 0.5 to 1 cun
  • Transverse oblique insertion 1 to 1.5 cun
  • Caution: perpendicular needling or oblique needling away from the spine carries a substantial risk of pneumothorax.

INDICATIONS:

  • Diabetes
  • Stomach diseases
  • Dry throat
  • Epigastric pain
  • Intercostal neuralgia
  • Wasting and thirsting disorder
  • Pain of the chest and lateral region
  • Vomiting

COMBINATIONS:

The point found inferior to the spinous process of the eight thoracic vertebra (100 moxa cones)
