- This herb can be used as a stand-alone herb in decoction or infusion.
- It has a strong effect on edema and urinary difficulty with Heat and can be used as a stand-alone herb for this purpose.
- Ingestion of the leaves can cause vomiting, diarrhea, epigastric discomfort, dry mouth, abdominal tension, weakness, wheezing or pain over the Liver.
- Long-term use can lead to hypokalemia.
- Both Luo Bu Ma Ye and Rz. Gastrodiae Tian Ma calm the Liver. Tian Ma is sweet and neutral, extinguishes Wind and stops spasms. It also dispels Wind and unblocks the collaterals to stop pain and treat Wind-Damp Bi and numbness in the limbs. Luo Bu Ma Ye is sweet, bitter and cool, calms the Liver and lowers blood pressure, while clearing Heat and facilitating urination. It i9s used for hypertension and Damp-Heat with urinary difficulty.
