- This herb is used as an aphrodisiac, astringent, appetizer, anti-pyretic, diuretic, hemostatic, refrigerant, anti-diarrheal, and tonic.
- The fruit is used as an intestinal astringent, aphrodisiac, and anti-inflammatory.
- It is used for leprosy, urinary discharges, fractures, sore throat, and anemia.
- In Kashmir, the upper portion of the stem is used in poultices as a dispersing agent and the expressed juice in eye diseases.
