- Flos Imperatae Cylindricae Mao Hua is sweet, cold, and also cools the Blood to stop bleeding. It is primarily used for Blood Heat with epistaxis, hemoptysis and hematemesis. It is less effective for Lin Syndrome. It can be used internally and topically.
- This herb is especially used for bleeding in the upper body especially epistaxis and hemoptysis.
- This herb clears latent, lurking Heat from the Lungs, Stomach, Small Intestine and Bladder.
- It is used for to eliminate Blood Heat without causing Dryness.
- It is especially noted for treating hematuria.
- It can be used alone for hematuria due to Bladder Heat.
- It is used to treat cancer.
- It can be used alone for edema and decreased volume of urine.
- Both Bai Mao Gen and Rz. Phragmitis Lu Gen clear Heat, generate fluids and promote urination. Lu Gen focuses on the Lungs and Stomach and excels at clearing Qi level Heat. It cools the Lungs, drains the Stomach, guides out Phlegm-Heat and vents and disseminates external pathogens. It treats cough from Lung Heat externally contracted disorders and failure of measles to express. Bai Mao Gen is better for clearing Blood level Heat and cooling the Blood to stop bleeding. It focuses on the Heart, Lungs Stomach and Bladder and guides Heart Fire out through the urine. It treats epistaxis, hemoptysis, hematuria and jaundice due to Damp-Heat. The herbs are very close to each other and can substitute for each other if necessary.
- It treats toothache, gingival swelling, ulcerative gingivitis, sore of the mouth and tongue, asphyxia due to Lung Heat Stagnation and sores and pus in the throat.
- Fresh Imperata Xian Mao Gen is stronger than the dried herb at cooling Heat, generating fluids, cooling the Blood and stopping bleeding. It can be used for any type of bleeding from the Lungs, Stomach or Bladder.
- Imperata Juice Bai Mao Gen Zhi alone treats epistaxis due to Heat.
- Charred Imperata Mao Gen Tan is better at stopping but not as good at clearing Heat.
- Imperata Flower Mao Gen Hua cools Heat in the Blood, and stops bleeding. It is used for Blood Heat patterns with bleeding from the upper body such as epistaxis and hemoptysis or hematemesis. It is taken internally or applied topically.
- For regurgitation and vomiting, use 60g of this herb plus 60g Rz. Phragmitis Lu Gen in decoction.
