With Lian Qiao, for Initial stage Wind-Heat or toxic Heat.

With Lian Qiao and Huang Qin, for Unremitting high fever.
With Huang Qin and Huang Lian, for unremitting fever. With Jie Geng and Niu Bang Zi, for pain and swelling of the throat.
Fr. Gardeniae Zhi Zi 2-12g Clears Heat and eliminates irritability.
With Huang Lian, Lian Qiao and Da Huang, for irritability and restlessness with high fever due to Toxic Heat.
With Da Huang, for constipation.
Mirabilitum Purum Xuan Ming Fen 2-9g Purges accumulations, eliminates stagnation, clears Heat and reduces swelling.
With Da Huang, for constipation.
With Da Huan and Gan Cao, for moderate constipation due to accumulation of Excess Heat.

With Jing Jie, for Wind-Cold or Exterior patterns in any season.
With Jing Jie, Lian Qiao and Bo he, for Wind-Heat with red eyes and a sore throat.
With Bo He, Huang Qin, Jing Jie and Lian Qiao, for Wind-Heat.

With Gan Cao, for Strongly clears throat and Lungs to treat Wind-Heat attacks the Lungs or Fire toxin flaring upwards.

Hb. Menthae Bo He 1.5-6g Disperses Wind-Heat and cools and clears the head and eyes and benefits the throat.
With Jing Jie and Jin Yin Hua, for Wind-Heat.
With Jie Geng and Niu Bang Zi, for Wind-Heat sore throat.
Rx. Scutellariae Huang Qin 4.5-15g Clears Heat and drains Fire.
With Zhi Zi, powerfully clears and drains lurking Heat from the Lungs with fever, fullness in the chest, cough with yellow sputum and epistaxis or hematemesis.
With Da Huang, for constipation.

Jie Geng 3-9g Spreads Lung Qi, resolves Phlegm and benefits the throat.
With Gan Cao and Huang Qin, for pain, swelling and hoarseness of the throat.
Rx. et Rz. Rhei Da Huang 2-12g Drains Heat, purges accumulations and relieves toxicity.
With Zhi Zi, Huang Qin and Lian Qiao, for strong pathogenic Heat in the Upper and Middle Jiaos and upward Flaring of Heat attacking the head.
Rx. Scrophulariae Xuan Shen 2-30g Drains Fire and relieves toxicity.
With Jie Geng and Gan Cao, for sore throat with Dryness and pain.
With Niu Bang Zi and Bo He, for initial stages of Wind-Heat where there are slight signs of toxicity.
(Hb. Lophatheri) (Dan Zhu Ye) (2-9g) (Clears Heat and eliminates irritability. May substitute for Xuan Shen.)
